Here you will find many free coloring pages of fierce and exciting dragons. Coloring can be a way to create your own Dragon Art.

Blue and Purple Dragons
Coloring the amazing dragons of history can be a a lot more interesting than you might think! The Sea Dragons which fought against the Sea Gods, or even with them (depends on the story)can be colored with blues and purples. Norse Dragons were often sea dragons, that is why the vikings believed that they had to disguise their ships as dragons. Imagine the azures and torquoise of the ocean waves, as many sea dragons do exist in dragon lore. Were they Real? When you read some of the facts about dragons you will discover that many old cultures thought they were real. Who knows?
Red Dragons
The dragons of fire can be explosive in reds. This is the traditional image of how a dragon should appear, but you can experiment still within the range of red colors by choosing deep purples and orange reds for highlights and shading. Many dragons from the tales of the Orient were always portrayed in deep reds and oranges. Make those scales and large muscles just shimmer.
Green, Brown and Yellow Dragons
British Dragons and European Dragons were the traditional dragons that we normally think of that flew through the air and were probably browns and greens. They hid their treasure in slimy green and brown caves. There were nordic tales of underground dragons - maybe greens, browns and yellows, use your imagination. As always have a great time!

When making a dragon picture...
It takes a lot of effort to fight a dragon...if the knight is wearing armor it might be glistening in the sun, if they are in cloth, the shadows can be played up as well. Skin tones are always tricky, but if you use the more expensive coloring pencils they usually have a couple of shades But you don't need the expensive pencils. You just have to remember that skin has whites and creams, as well as dark browns and red tones. For some ideas on how to color skin and scales I have put together a page showing the process I use to color - using a mermaid as an example. You could even visualize the skin as greens as if you want your heros to look like the hulk! So again remember that you are making a dragon picture, and this page helps you put it together in your head before you begin drawing. What colors can dragons come in? If they are sea dragons they can be purples and greens and blues, just let go and imagine. What about guarding his treasure - what color is the dragon treasure?

Every wild dragon looks for a Castle to attack, or even to protect. Is your dragon trying to save a princess or steal one? She might be out in the garden looking at the flowers in the garden with her friends the unicorn, her beautiful Horse, the flower fairies, of course the Flowers, with gorgeous little Butterflies flitting around, and imagine pegasus soaring over the towers of the castle. Back in the dragon's cave are her Baby Dragons, some are even being hatched from the dragon eggs. This sounds like the beginnings of a great fairy tale. Can't you just see an Evil Fairy in the castle? How about Mermaids down at the beach? Okay, I'm running out of ideas for this story, but I still have more coloring pages as follows: Cool Dragons Coloring Angel Coloring Cinderella Coloring Cartoon Coloring Animal Coloring I am sure you could put them all together with your own writing using all of these to illustrate the Fairy Tales. What about Paper Dolls?
What do Paper Dolls have to do with dragons?Nothing yet, but I have princesses and fairies that you can print out - color their clothes and use in your dragon stories. I also have a fabulous new section that has Dress Up Games, with a cute little Baby Doll Dress Up Game. I am working on a Fairy that is a southern belle/pirate/witch of the bayou who may not have anything to do with dragons, but might be able to conjure one up. This fairy is not ready yet, but she is coming. I should create a castle dress up game with a knight, a beautiful maiden and definitely a dragon. That's why you should sign up for my e-zine below and keep up with all the fairy news.
